Milton Keynes Breakers face back-to-back fixtures this weekend as they travel to City of Birmingham Rockets in the league on Saturday before hosting Hemel Storm in the National Cup Quarterfinals on Sunday evening.
The Breakers picked up a much-needed win against second placed Derby Trailblazers last weekend as they ran out 75-67 winners. American duo Adrian Scarborough (19 points, 13 rebounds) and KJ Johnson (19 points, 8 assists) shone for the home side as they improved their league record to 3-4.
The win saw MK Breakers climb to ninth in the table, just one place behind City of Birmingham Rockets, who enter Saturday’s clash without a win in their last three outings. They’ll be looking to put that right after tasting defeat against Hemel Storm, Bristol Hurricanes and Loughborough Riders in recent weeks.

The Rockets have a perfectly even record having won five and lost five of their opening 10 games, a record they’ll be looking to improve upon this weekend. Zack Powell is someone the Breakers will be looking to slow down. The athletic guard is leading his hometown Rockets in scoring this season with 15.3ppg. Veteran forward Orland Jackman is also averaging an impressive 14.1ppg for the midlands side.
Attention will then turn to the National Cup as local rivals Hemel Storm are welcomed back to Bletchley Leisure Centre for a Quarter-Final clash. The Breakers beat Hemel Storm in the KitKing Trophy with a 100-88 win earlier this season, but suffered a heavy league defeat away to Hemel the following weekend.
Darien Nelson-Henry currently leads the division in efficency with 210.0, with Matt Ellis (199.0) and Sam Newman (161.0) also featuring in the top 10. Matt Ellis also features in the top 10 for points per game with an average of 18.2. It’s Sam Newman who is proving to be the most creative player in the division as he’s averaging 7.7 assists per game.
