The MK Breakers are excited to announce the re-signing of Luke Gregory, a key inside presence for the team, for the upcoming 2024-25 season. The 26-year-old Milton Keynes native has been a cornerstone of the Breakers’ success over the past two seasons and will continue to be an essential part of the squad as they step up to NBL Division 1.
Luke Gregory, who grew up in Milton Keynes and attended Denbigh School, began his basketball journey with the Shenley Scorpions junior program, the club from which the MK Breakers evolved. Known for his quiet demeanour off the court, Gregory plays with undeniable heart and desire, making significant contributions at both ends of the court. Often the unsung hero, his consistent and vital inside presence has been a driving force for the Breakers since the club’s inception in 2022.
Expressing his excitement about returning for another season, Gregory said, “I am really happy to be back for another season with the Breakers. It’s been the best basketball I’ve ever played, and the setup, team, and club are second to none. Obviously, Milton Keynes is my hometown as well, which makes the journey even sweeter.
“It’s been a very challenging two seasons, but I can really see how much I’ve grown in these past two years. I’ve loved the quality and commitment the guys have, and it’s shown in all our success as a team. The rise from D3 has been a crazy one, if I’m honest. It seems only yesterday we were starting our first game in D3, so to now be preparing to play in D1, it’s such a huge achievement for the team and the club as a whole – but this was always the goal.”
“The Breakers fans are incredible and are a big reason why I wanted to continue playing this season, so I’m really happy to be back in front of them.”
Head Coach Billy Beddow emphasised the importance of Gregory’s return, stating, “It is great to have Luke back for a third season. When the season ended, I knew I wanted to re-sign Luke for the upcoming season, so I’m pleased to get it done.
“He is a brilliant teammate and has developed as a player alongside the Club and has shown himself as a capable forward for a D1 side. We are excited to see how this continues to trend next season.”
Luke Gregory’s re-signing marks the third major commitment of the summer for the Breakers, following the re-signings of Nate Robinson and Blayne Freckleton.
