With the KitKing Trophy getting underway last Sunday, MK Breakers face two NBL Division 1 opponents this weekend with the chance of progressing from the group still a possibility.
MK Breakers opened the KitKing Trophy with a 93-72 win over NBL Division 1 side Nottingham Hoods – a result in which Jordan Spencer led the scoring with 19 points. The Point Guard will be looking to maintain his performance that saw him named in the KitKing Trophy Team of the Week.
It’s back-to-back games for the Breakers as they face City of Birmingham Rockets on Saturday evening before travelling to Loughborough Riders on Sunday.
The Rockets secured their first win in the KitKing Trophy over Nottingham Hoods last weekend as they ran out 113-91 winners, before overcoming Loughborough Riders 83-69 the following day.
Tickets: MK Breakers vs Richmond Knights 30th September
The competition sees each of the three teams face each-other once, meaning MK Breakers need to finish in the top 2 of the group to advance to the quarterfinal stages.
Head Coach Billy Beddow spoke about the challenges of facing two teams in one weekend and noted the importance of having strength in depth heading into the weekend.
“It’s two away games and it’s early in the season to be doing so, I hope we can show our strength in depth and give everyone some minutes on court. We’ll take it one game at a time though and focus on Saturday first before turning our attention to Sunday.”
