This Saturday saw Nottingham Hoods visit Bletchley Leisure Centre as MK Breakers Men played their final pre-season friendly.
Coach Ben Stanley made changes to his starting five, with Jordan Spencer, Chris Tawiah and Mike New Jr joined by Jonas Dieterich and Kai Williams in front of a loud home crowd.
For the first 15 minutes of the game, both offences took centre stage. Hoods knocked down some big threes, while Breakers showed off plenty of new actions that got good looks for a number of different players.
Then, midway through the second quarter, there was a real shift in tempo. Up until that point, Hoods had kept the game close with the score at 29-28, but suddenly the Breakers defensive effort intensified.
Hoods would score just five more points before half-time, while the stops and rebounds allowed the home side to get out on the break. Jordan Spencer got them off and running in transition, finding team-mates with some superb passes that led to wide open layups for Dieterich, New and Ben Baker.
Having wrestled control of the game, Breakers would never look back. The final score would see them as 98-76 winners, with Chase Thompson the leading scorer with 15 points, while Jordan and Baker added 14 each.
Up next for Breakers is the start of the BCB Trophy as COB Rockets come to Bletchley next Saturday for a game that tips off at 17:00.
