After a month that saw them win all four games, two key figures in those MK Breakers victories have been recognised by the league.
Named the Molten BCB Coach of the Month for February, Ben Stanley oversaw a string of results that pushed his side into title contention. Breakers averaged 89 points per game across the month, winning by an average margin of 12 points as things clicked at both ends of the floor.
It began with a convincing 102-85 win over London Cavaliers where Breakers hit 13 threes and shot 48 percent from the floor, following that up with a win over Worthing Thunder on Valentine’s Day.
Ending COB Rockets’ good run of form and then beating Essex Rebels means Breakers – who have won each of their last six games – have moved level on points with second-placed Reading.
A central figure in that streak has been Jordan Spencer, who claimed Molten BCB Player of the Month honours after averaging 16.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game while shooting 51.5% from the floor throughout February.
The London Cavaliers game saw him weigh in with 26 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, before bagging a triple-double against Worthing where his 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists saw the Breakers Captain claim BCB Player of the Week honours.
Another almost followed as Spencer recorded eight points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in the 79-78 win over COB Rockets before ending the month with a 17 point, seven rebound and five assist display against Essex.
Everyone at the club congratulates Ben and Jordan on their much-deserved awards.
The Breakers are back in action this Saturday at Bletchley Leisure Centre, hosting league leaders Newcastle Knights. A win would see the Breakers go level with the Knights at the top of the table. Tickets are available here.
