Milton Keynes Breakers have the chance to make history as they look to lift the KitKing Trophy for the first time this weekend. They’ll face Reading Rockets, who will also be looking to put their name on the trophy for the first time at Surrey Sports Park with Tip-Off scheduled for 2pm.

It’ll be the third time the two sides have gone head-to-head this season, with the series tied at 1-1. The Rockets won the first game back in November 92-73, before the Breakers ran out 90-89 winners in February.

The two sides have further history as it was the Rockets the Breakers beat to lift the National Cup last season with Jordan Spencer netting 34 points and 11 assists on his way to MVP Honours.

The Breakers have certainly had a tough route to the Final, overcoming City of Birmingham Rockets, Bristol Hurricanes and Loughborough Riders in the Group Stage. They then picked up wins over Bradford Dragons and Hemel Storm to book their place in Saturday’s Final.

Reading Rockets have also had a tough run to the Final, their group consisted of wins over Team Solent Kestrels, Worthing Thunder and Barking Abbey before passing by London Cavaliers and Derby Trailblazers.

Saturday’s Final will also see two of the highest scoring offences go head-to-head, with the Breakers averaging 89.7 points per game, with Reading closely behind on 89.5 points per game. KJ Johnson and Adrian Scarborough have been important in reaching that number, the American duo are both averaging 18 points per game, with Nate Robinson scoring 16.7 per game.

Reading possess a number of dangerous players with the likes of Mitch Clarke, Victor Olarein, Justin Hopkins, Lewis Champion, Simon Chamberlain and Zain Poorman making up a stacked Rockets roster. It’s Hopkins who leads the scoring for the Rockets with an impressive 19.1 points per game, with Mitch Clarke averaging 17.7.
