The Milton Keynes Breakers are thrilled to announce that fan-favorite Chris Tawiah has re-signed with the club for the 2024-25 season.
A native of Milton Keynes, Tawiah was a vital part of the Breakers’ treble-winning campaign last year, helping the team secure the NBL Division 2 South Title, National Cup, and NBL2 Play-Offs.
In that season, Tawiah averaged 12.8 points per game, 6.6 rebounds per game whilst shooting an impressive 75% from the field. He also delivered a standout performance in the Play-Off Final win over Team Solent Kestrels, contributing 21 points and 15 rebounds, proving once again why his importance to the team’s success.
For those unfamiliar with Tawiah’s illustrious career, he has played in seven top domestic European leagues, as well as in international competitions like the FIBA Europe Cup and Basketball Champions League. His time with the Oberwart Gunners in Austria during the 2018-19 season was particularly noteworthy, where he averaged a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds per game and earned a starting spot in the Austrian League All-Star Game.
Speaking on his return to the club, Tawiah commented “I’m looking forward to the team competing in Division1 this season. We expect a much higher level of competition on a consistent basis and we’re ready for the challenge. I can’t wait to play in front of our amazing fans again, the energy at home games is amazing. The support both home and away is fantastic, as a player you love that.”
Head Coach Billy Beddow-Patel expressed the significance of re-signing Tawiah, stating, “Re-signing Chris was a priority for us this offseason, although it has taken some time, I am delighted to get it done. His impact on both ends of the floor is unmatched, and his leadership and experience are invaluable. Chris’s performance in our big games last year is a testament to how much he means to this team, and we’re thrilled to have him back to help us build on last season’s success.”
Tawiah will make his season debut tomorrow as the Breakers host Bradford Dragons in the KitKing Trophy Quarterfinal. Over 70% of tickets have already been sold, remaining tickets are available HERE.
