6’5” Forward Luke Gregory re-signs for the Breakers, becoming the sixth signing for the 2023/24 season.
The 25-year-old MK native was a consistent force inside for the Breakers during their historic first season, averaging 12 points and a team leading 11 rebounds per game. Some of Gregory’s best performances came in the Breakers National Cup run, where he recorded 12 points and 18 rebounds against Bradford Dragons in the last 16, followed up by a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double vs Manchester Magic in the quarter final.
Often the unsung hero, Gregory provided a vital inside presence for the Breakers in their league winning campaign, posting a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double vs University of Hertfordshire and scoring a season-high 27 points to go with 10 rebounds on the road in UEA, the game that secured promotion to NBL2 for the Breakers.
Speaking on his return, Gregory commented “I am very excited to continue to be part of MK Breakers for a second season. We are working hard in the off season to prepare for D2 and look forward to facing tougher challenges this year. The team is looking even better this season, and we can’t wait to showcase that in front of the fantastic fans in September.”
Head Coach Billy Beddow is pleased to have Gregory back, “Luke was a big part of the team last year and I’m really pleased that he is returning. He really stepped up in our cup run last year competing against D2 and D1 teams. Now, seeing the hard work he’s been putting in during the offseason already, I’m excited to see what he can achieve this year.”
Gregory becomes sixth signing for the 2023/24 season, joining returners Jordan Spencer, Dante Langley, Mike New Jr, Blayne Freckleton and new recruit Andre Arissol. There will be more signings in the coming weeks with some familiar faces as well as some exciting new additions.
