MK Breakers forward Buai Luak has committed to Division One Junior College, Casper College on a full athletic scholarship.

Based in Wyoming, Casper College is one of the most respected JUCO programmes in the United States and finished with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses this year in Region Nine.

Buai joined the Breakers and MK5D Academy from local club Bedford Thunder in 2022 and always had ambitions of gaining a scholarship and continuing his playing career in America. The 6’9” Finnish international explains, “I’m really happy to announce that I’ll be committing to Casper College for the upcoming season, I’m very excited and looking forward to this next step in my career! Big thank you to everyone at MK and of course my Parents for supporting me through this whole process.”

Fan favourite Luak instantly made an impact to the team in Milton Keynes and has been part of winning four league titles and four National titles in just two years. MK Breakers’ Men’s and MK5D Academy Head Coach, Billy Beddow-Patel said, “It’s been a brilliant two years with Buai in our programme. He has helped us achieve so much and now it feels brilliant to help him secure the next step of his basketball journey. Coach Tom Parks is a well-respected and a player’s first coach who I know will help Buai to continue to grow and improve at the rate he has here. It’s a big step for our young basketball academy and club here in Milton Keynes. Buai becomes our first player to acquire a full scholarship to the States, proving our pathway and the support that we can offer our players who work hard enough to achieve this. We are so proud of him and everyone wishes him the best moving forward.”

Buai will leave this summer to begin his college career, T-Birds Head Coach Tom Parks said, “We are so excited to welcome Buai to the Casper family. Buai possesses everything we look for, both on and off the court. He comes from an amazing family and is praised by anyone who has been involved in his journey. Fans will love watching him finish above the rim and play great team basketball. He fits our vision, and we can’t wait for the rest of the basketball world to witness his success with the T-Birds!”

We look forward to keeping track of Buai’s progress and we know everyone in the Milton Keynes Breakers family will be behind him.
