The MK Breakers are delighted to announce Mike New Jr as their second signing for the 2023/24 season, the club’s first in NBL Division 2.
MK native New Jr, the recipient of the Coaches’ Award in 2022/23, produced consistently for Coach Beddow’s side, averaging 15 points, 8.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game in the Breakers’ maiden season.
Some of New Jr’s best performances came during the Breakers’ historic cup run, including a 22-point, 11 rebound double-double vs Newcastle University in the last 16, and a 24-point outing including some clutch baskets to see the team over the line vs Manchester Magic in the quarter finals.
New Jr is excited to build on the success of this season, “I’m happy to be re-signing with the Breakers for this coming season! We’ve added to what was already an incredibly strong roster and I think we’ll make some noise in D2. I’m looking forward to getting back into our home court in front of our amazing fans and putting on a show!”
Head Coach Billy Beddow added, “We’re really happy to have Mike back again! Continuity is a big thing for the team as we aim to keep building and improving. He was a reliable force all last season and we are expecting that and then some next year.”
There will be more signings in the coming weeks with some familiar faces as well as some exciting new additions.
