MK Breakers Head Coach, Billy Beddow-Patel and Captain Jordan Spencer have been named the NBL Division 3 East Coach and Player of the year respectively for the 2022-23 season.

Spencer, a seasoned professional who returned to his hometown and joined the club at the beginning of the season, beat out his running mate Dante Langley by a singular vote in the Player of the Year voting. Spencer who has led the Breakers all season with his stellar point guard play insists the award was won as part of a collective effort, “Im very thankful to be named Player of the Year. But the credit has to go to everyone involved with the club, in particular my teammates, coaches, staff and our amazing fans. The focus remains the same, and winning the Playoff final on Saturday will be the real prize.“

Coach Beddow-Patel, who is coaching a senior men’s team for the first time has guided the Breakers to an incredible first season, winning all 18 league games, earning promotion and reaching the semifinals of the National Cup defeating five teams from higher leagues in the process. On winning the Coach of the Year award, Coach Beddow-Patel had this to say “It’s an honour to win this award in our first season in the Men’s Leagues. It caps off promotion, an exciting cup run and an appearance at the finals this coming weekend. This award is a recognition of a staff and team who have worked really hard this season to put a professional and competitive product on the floor each game. I’m really pleased for everyone involved.”

The Breakers will be hoping to cap off an incredible first season when they take on the UEL London Lions this Saturday in the NBL Division 3 Playoff Final, 1pm tip off at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester. It would be the icing on the cake in an already amazing first season in senior basketball for the club.
