Milton Keynes Breakers are thrilled to announce that Mike New Jr will be back with the club for their debut season in British Championship Basketball.

Having moved to Milton Keynes at the age of 12 when his father signed for MK Lions, Mike played his youth basketball in the area before spending time at Western Nebraska Community College and the University of Worcester.

Winning the BUCS league, cup, and trophy during his time there, he went on to play for both the Worcester Wolves and Oaklands Wolves before joining Milton Keynes Breakers back in 2022.

A key figure in our Division 3 campaign, Mike has since been dealing with injury problems that kept him sidelined last term, but is now ready to make an impact on the 2025/26 campaign.

“It’s been a long journey back,” he said, “but I’m excited to get back on the court in front of our Breakers fans to put on a show and get us back to winning ways.”

Breakers General Manager Josh Merrington was also delighted to get the deal done. “Mike has had some bad luck with injuries the last few years and I definitely think there’s more to come from him,” he said.

“He’ a player with a strong connection to the area, who understands what we’re about as a club and where we’re trying to go. We’re all excited to see Mike back in action at a level he already has experience of, and I’m very happy to have been able to add him back into our squad.”

Everyone at the club wishes Mike every success in the 2025/26 season.
