The MK Breakers are delighted to announce a partnership with Peterborough City Basketball Club (PCBC).
Founded in 2023 by MK Breakers Centre Chris Tawiah, PCBC is a community basketball club that exists to make basketball accessible and inclusive for boys and girls in Peterborough and its surrounding areas.
The partnership will see the two clubs sharing best practice and working together in several areas to support the development of basketball in both cities.
Initially, the two clubs will collaborate on holiday camps and organise friendly games and tournaments between the two clubs, with the vision of PCBC entering teams in the Breakers Community Basketball League (CBL) in the near future.
Speaking on the partnership, PCBC founder and MK Breakers Centre Chris Tawiah said “I am really excited about partnering with National League powerhouse MK Breakers as it shows our ambition and direction we are aiming to go, which is to become an elite level basketball club. The partnership will allow our club players to compete against national league and GB junior players giving them invaluable experience and allow them to test themselves against some of the finest young players in the country. Myself being from Milton Keynes and now playing for the men’s team I’m very familiar with the standard and culture here from top to bottom and it’s definitely something I am aiming to replicate for PCBC. During the October half term a few of my players came to the MK Breakers camp and got a chance to compete with National League players and get coached by National League coaches.”
Josh Merrington, General Manager of the MK Breakers added “We’re excited to support Chris with the development of his club in Peterborough. With Chris playing for our men’s team and being an important part of our club, it was a natural progression for us to support him with the growth of PCBC. Our club has grown significantly in the last 3 years and we are happy to share our experiences with Chris to help him develop his club and basketball in the Peterborough area. We need more strong clubs across the basketball landscape to support the growth of basketball in the UK, and with Chris’ vision and determinate to grow his club, we’ve no doubt PCBC will be a huge success.”
