This weekend sees the Junior NBL season come to an end with the traditional Final Fours event in Manchester. In what is rapidly becoming tradition, there will be a heavy Breakers presence with no fewer than three of our teams competing to be crowned champions.
Our U16 Girls will return to the NBPC looking to defend the title they won last year. They will take on Richmond Knights in Saturday’s semi-final, with Head coach Bjorn Westman looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s great to be back at Jnr. NBL Final Fours with the U16 Girls,” he said. “We returned only two players from last year’s National Championship winning team, so it’s been a tough job for the new team to gel, but they have become a really close-knit team.
“Their commitment has been outstanding and I know they’ll give it their all this weekend.”
Meanwhile, our undefeated U-14 Boys I will be seeking to make history with their first appearance in the competition. Having beaten Breakers U-14 Boys II in the quarter final, they take on London Legends for a place in the Final where Bristol Flyers or London Stars will be waiting.
“I’m really proud of the boys,” said Head coach Burak Haciismail. “They’ve worked hard all season, shown great team spirit, and earned this opportunity. It’s a big step for them and a great moment for the team.
“A huge thank you to MK Breakers and all the parents for their support throughout the journey.”
Finally, the U-14 Girls will be looking to go one better than last season when they finished as runners-up. “We’re excited to be back at the Final Four,” said guard Alessia Dinu. “Achieving this milestone represents our hard work, dedication and teamwork throughout the season. We are really eager to make the most of this opportunity.”
Having finished in 4th place in 2023, then reaching the Final a year ago, they have the experience and quality to go all the way this time around.
Tickets for the event are available here and we look forward to seeing as many of our fans as possible at the National Basketball Performance Centre.
Updates will be provided all weekend on our social media channels and the Basketball England website.
