Milton Keynes Breakers conclude their regular season exploits this weekend as they host Essex Rebels at Bletchley Leisure Centre this Sunday. Tip-Off is scheduled for 5pm.
The game will play a big part in whoever finishes 4th and secure that all important home play-off fixture. It’s the Breakers who currently occupy that spot, they sit just two points ahead of Essex Rebels.
The Breakers have won their previous three games heading into this Sunday’s fixture, having most recently beating Loughborough Riders with Jordan Spencer and Adrian Scarborough dominating as the Breakers ran out 89-81 winners.
The Rebels enter this weekend’s fixture in a fine run of form, having won four of their last five games. That run also contains wins over Reading Rockets, Derby Trailblazers and Hemel Storm – with all but Reading Rockets scoring less than 80 points against Essex.
Connor Nelson is currently leading the Rebels in scoring, he’s averaging 15.4 points this season with both Emmanuel Kanwei and Luke Busumbru just behind him on 15.2 Points per Game. Joe Hart (10.7) and Daniel Johnson-Thompson (10.3) have also been averaging double digits for the Rebels. Nelson has shown his abilities from beyond the arc this season, he’s shooting 41.1% on three pointers – the third highest in the division. Elsewhere, Luke Busumbru’s 6.9 Assists Per Game sees him place second in the division.
The two sides have already met twice this season with the Breakers winning both games. They firstly overcame Essex in their debut NBL D1 outing back in October 83-62, before knocking Essex out of the National Cup with an impressive 91-54 win in early December.
The Breakers need to win this Sunday or lose by no more than 21 points to secure a top four finish in their debut season in the division. So make sure you come down and support their Breakers in their final regular season fixture of the season. Tickets can be purchased HERE!
